hmph. yes, it's bloody obvious that felton has to have his hair dyed to play draco - in the movie, you can see his roots (watch the Polyjuice scene in the Slytherin common room), and if they're going to dye it they should do it right. He's BLOND, not YELLOW. there is a distinction. he should be silvery blond, or ash blond at the very least. Not the color of Big Bird's feathers! ::seethes:: with an enormous budget, surely someone can afford to dye felton's hair correctly? it ticks me off almost as much as those fanfics that give draco blue eyes. they're gray, dammit, gray.

Stupid--fucking--laptop--is--on--fucking--crack. It won't let me run WINDOWS FUCKING NOTEPAD because there's not enough memory! At the same time, it lets me open Mathematica! AND some of the formatting on the Lair isn't working out like it's supposed to, when the code's the fucking same as what I'm using for the sections of the page that DO work. Great. Now I get to pore over 17 fucking pages of code to see what the fuck the problem might be. ARGH.

ugh. saw Die Another Day today, the latest 007 movie. ugh. ugh. lots of gratuitous sex. lots of gratuitous het sex. Het sex squicks me, oddly enough. Reading NC-17 het when it pops up in a fic (e.g. Breaking Up the Girl) squicks me, even when the story's v. good and has implied h/d slash (as does Breaking Up).

haha. was going to some site or other and a pop-up ad appeared: Do You have PORNOGRAPHY on YOUR computer? I wonder if some of the higher end of NC-17 fics count as porn? Verbal porn? Whatever. What's the definition of porn, anyhow?

EDIT @ 11.30.02 12:17 A.M. PST : after hours of intermittent work while watching Castaway (which palled the cheerfulness of my deserted island h/d plotbunny somewhat), the Lair is almost ready to go. One page refused to format correctly and i was stuck pouring over lines of HTML. I need a decent program to do this for me, or better yet, learn how to use something besides tedious HTML. I hope the Lair shows up in all browsers, because if it doesn't, i don't know how to fix it.

worked on the Lair last night. will not put it up until it's done. however, i did post No Hands Allowed online here. It's a short (2,174 words) h/d pre-slash fic, the first hp fic that i've finished. It was for the Armchair's Flirtatious Foods Fic Challenge. It's still un-beta-ed -

and does anyone who's somewhat into the fandom already want to beta for me? I need someone vicious who can Britpick (cultural details, spelling, answer infrequent questions about the UK, etc.), check sometimes questionable grammar, and point out characterisation issues. I don't write too often, due to time issues, and write mostly one-shot fics, so it won't be overly time-consuming. Caveats: I'm a H/D fanatic and will most likely never write het. Hence, I'd prefer a beta who's a slasher. Also, just in case, be ready to read stuff of all ratings (No Hands Allowed is PG, but the current plotbunny hopping around in my head is R or perhaps NC-17 - i'm not too clear on the line between the two rating.). i couldn't resist posting this post - i had to express my t00by pure ecstaticness, the likes of which i have not experienced for a while (well, since...erm...a few hours ago, when I saw antenora's new fics at RS. and yesterday, i guess, when RS opened. but before that, it'd been a long time, a few weeks ago when chapter 9/10 of PTG went up at Schnoogle.). can you tell that i'm a newbie as an author? well, relatively speaking - it's one thing to submit poetry to the school litmag, and another to post a fic to a yahoo!group with 900+ members, probably none of whom i've met in real life.

anatsuno reviewed No Hands! ::happy happy happy:: i have to go do something about the plotbunny that's bouncing around in my head - it appeared while I was writing No Hands Allowed. it was roughly like this - i was wondering how to work in h/d slash and thought, "how do i get harry and draco to lick each other?" and remembered those old cheesy cartoons, e.g. loony tunes. The shows where two characters are stranded on a deserted island without food or potable water and end up hallucinating and thinking that the other is a hamburger or what not. that led to, "...maybe if harry thought draco was a hot dog and tried to eat him..." erk. am giving away too much of the fic with this...i stand guilty of writing short h/d one-shot fics that lack epic structure, size, or plot. ::sigh::

urk. have been compulsively checking the web all day long to see if Snitch!11 and Cowboys&Angels have been coded and uploaded to Schnoogle and Restricted Section, respectively. ::facepalms:: must pry self away from internet and go write. writewritewrite. unfortunately, brain is a bit fried from staring at laptop for 3 hours straight writing No Hands Allowed. maybe will go work on getting the Lair running.

It's my first completed Harry Potter fanfic, and after two days of writing it masses in at 2,174 words. It's h/d slash, pg, didn't have a beta (today's Thanksgiving in the States, so my beta is off having a dinner with family and *lots* of family relatives), and I really want feedback. If you want to read it before I get around to putting the Lair up, msg me and I'll send it to you*. I hope it's not hideous.

In other news - saw CoS again, today. stupid non-slasher, non-hp-fan debate partner refused to come with me. I think I scared him the other night - he wanted to know what slash was and I explained it and happened to mention chanslash. By this time, he already thought I was disturbed and then I gave him a link to Daisychain!Draco and he was very terrified. ::makes sure halo is still in place::

C&A, another sequence of fics in Abaddon's Into the Woods series, was supposed to be submitted to Restricted Section today. hope that it goes up soon. life in the fandom is so drool-worthy at the moment...fics popping up everywhere, Restricted Section opening, etc.

it took over an hour, but i finally cleared my hp/college email account of an enormous backlog of emails. that email account has exploded 3 times in the past TWO DAYS.

getting more and more involved with the fandom, in some respects - reading a ton (as always), but also beta-ing for folks, and going to start writing soon. like, tonight or tomorrow, a submission for the Armchair's latest fic challenge.

someone on the Armchair found an absolutely yummy link a day or two ago and uploaded it to the Armchair: YUM. unfortunately, you can't access it unless you're in the Armchair, but anyone who likes Daniel Radcliffe should, if only to see this image. it's quite hilarious.

hp = harry potter. i'm heavily into hp fanfic. really wish that i'd find some comrade souls nearby. so far, i know ONE person who reads hp fanfic - and she likes het. ::sulks:: i want to find a fellow slasher.

Armchair: a yahoo!group (Armchair_slash) run by Aja and Erica that's focused on hp fanfic, as long as said fanfic is h/d.

h/d: harry / draco - indicates that a fic involves a harry/draco pairing.

figured i'd just post this in case anyone's interested (highly unlikely that ppl who read my blog would be, but might as well)...

Restricted Section is finally open! It's a purely hp-fanfic archive and contains only nc-17 and perhaps R fics, as far as i know. fanfiction.net banned and took down all of its nc-17 fics back in October or September, and Fiction Alley (an enormous hp fanfic archive) doesn't allow anything beyond R. NOT FOR ANYONE YOUNGER THAN 18.

the opening of restricted section makes me very glad, otherwise i wouldn't be able to access abaddon's C&A sequence, as it is being posted solely to restricted section at the moment because FA won't take it until the nc17 bits are edited down to R. and i.love.his ItW sequence. there are definitely archives out there which will accept nc17, like PSA and Pure Magnetism, but PSA is exclusively potter-related fics and PM is purely h/d fics, which limits the stories that they host. hmm. not that it matters much, since i read mostly h/d. to clarify - nc17 or R does not mean that the fic is smut or a lemon. there can be extremely good writing where the sex is a part of the storyline and crucial to characterization (see IvyBlossom's Belong - it reveals a side of Draco that wouldn't come out in normal, everyday interaction with Harry).

more on the hp front - i realized today that Friday in Britain is much earlier than Friday in Cali. This is relevant because chapter 11 of Snitch! is being released on Friday...::drools::...Friday in Britain, that is. Which means I might be able to read it tomorrow, making Thanksgiving truly a day of appreciation for life and giving thanks. at the moment, for Thanksgiving two families are coming over and i think we're all running out to see a movie as a Big Happy Family + Family Friends Outing ::gag::. It happens that in this case, the Family Friends are no longer My Friends - the kids annoy me too much. not to say that i actively dislike the families, i just don't like them.
